Arizona State Representative Gail Griffin said on April 6 that her record reflects years of work for Southern Arizona residents, following recognition for her legislative effectiveness.
Griffin’s comments come after the Arizona House GOP announced she earned the number one ranking for the longest streak of “Above Expectations” performance in the Arizona House from the Center for Effective Lawmaking for the 56th Legislature. The nonpartisan Center evaluates state lawmakers across fifteen metrics, including bill sponsorship success and substantive legislative impact adjusted for seniority and committee assignments. Griffin posted a 5.50 effectiveness score in the 2023-2024 session, which ranked second-highest in the entire House, according to the announcement.
“I’m honored to be recognized for a record that reflects years of hard work on behalf of the people I represent. Southern Arizona expects results, not excuses. I come to the Capitol to protect our water, defend private property rights, support agriculture and mining, stand up for rural communities, and fight for the constitutional freedoms that matter to Arizona families. Good policy only matters if you can move it, pass it, and put it into law,” Griffin said.
The Center for Effective Lawmaking reported that Griffin extended her streak of “Above Expectations” ratings to three consecutive legislative sessions. This marks the longest active streak among current Arizona House members. Her 5.50 score in the most recent session exceeded the effectiveness scores of all Arizona Senate members during the same period, according to the Center’s evaluation methodology.
As chairman of the House Natural Resources, Energy, and Water Committee, State Rep. Griffin has worked on legislation addressing water security and natural resource management critical to Legislative District 19. The district spans portions of Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima, and Santa Cruz counties, where agriculture and mining remain important economic drivers. Effective policymaking in these areas helps protect rural livelihoods and private property rights for Arizona families, according to legislative priorities.
Griffin is a Republican State Representative serving Legislative District 19 in the Arizona House of Representatives. A longtime advocate for rural Arizona, she previously served in the Arizona Senate and has focused on water policy, property rights, agriculture, mining, and constitutional issues throughout her legislative career. She is a real estate broker with decades of experience in Southern Arizona, according to official records. Griffin was elected to the Arizona State House in 2023 to represent District 19 after replacing previous state representative Lorenzo Sierra.
