Cochise County will host the Road to 250: Arizona Traveling Museum in March as part of statewide events marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. The museum, which features a replica Liberty Bell and interactive exhibits, aims to highlight both national history and Arizona’s contributions.

The exhibit is accessible for visitors with disabilities and is open to all ages at no cost. The museum will be set up at several locations in Cochise County: Sierra Vista on March 12, Tombstone on March 13 and 14, and Willcox on March 15.

According to organizers, “This traveling museum offers residents, families, students, and visitors an opportunity to reflect on 250 years of American history while looking ahead to the future of our communities and state.”

The event comes at a time when educational outcomes in Cochise County have been under scrutiny. In the most recent school year, only about 28.5% of third through eighth graders passed the mathematics section of the AASA assessment (source), while just over a quarter of high schoolers passed the ACT math section (source). English proficiency rates were also low; roughly 37.6% of students in grades three through eight passed English assessments (source), with about 35% passing at the high school level (source).

The Road to 250 Traveling Museum will visit all fifteen counties in Arizona before its final stop at the State Capitol, where the replica Liberty Bell will remain permanently installed.

More information about America250 activities can be found at the official website.
