Rep. Juan Ciscomani of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District has joined Rep. Dan Newhouse and a bipartisan group of lawmakers in introducing a resolution to designate September 21-27, 2025, as Gold Star Families Remembrance Week. The resolution seeks to honor families who have lost an immediate family member while serving on active duty in the U.S. armed forces.
“Gold Star Families embody the strength and courage on behalf of their loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice. These fearless men and women lost a family member who fought to protect the freedoms we take advantage of every day,” Congressman Ciscomani said. “I’m honored to join my colleagues to honor these families in Congress with this resolution. As a representative of Arizona’s sixth congressional district that is home to almost 80,000 veterans, I will always fight to be your voice in Washington to show our appreciation, and especially for those who lost their lives protecting our privileges in the United States.”
Ciscomani joined Newhouse and 64 other members of Congress as original cosponsors for this resolution, which aims to recognize Gold Star Families across the country.
A Gold Star Family is defined as one that has lost an immediate family member during active military service.
Juan Ciscomani currently serves in Congress representing Arizona’s 6th district after succeeding Ann Kirkpatrick in 2023. He was elected after defeating Kirsten Engel in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
