Congressman Juan Ciscomani announced that more than $22 million has been secured for eight community projects in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026. The House passed the funding package on Thursday with a 341-88 vote. The legislation now moves to the Senate for consideration.

Ciscomani stated, “I’m very proud of this funding package because it does two critical things: cuts wasteful spending and directs taxpayer dollars where they matter most — back to Arizona and our district. This legislation delivers real results, with funding that means safer communities, stronger infrastructure, and improvements people will see and feel. By working closely with local leaders across Arizona’s Sixth District, I am proud to have advocated for and now secured practical investments, not Washington talking points, that address real needs. From road and bridge improvements to affordable housing, these federal dollars will make a meaningful difference in communities across our district like Sierra Vista, Oro Valley, Casa Grande, Eloy, Duncan, and the Town of Pima.”

The projects funded include $7 million each for Sierra Vista’s Buffalo Soldier Trail Reconstruction and Oro Valley’s Bridge Replacement; $2 million for Cochise County’s Bisbee-Douglas Airport Runway Revitalization; $1.9 million for Duncan’s Main and High Street Improvements; $1.8 million for Casa Grande Union High School District’s Affordable Workforce Housing Construction; $1 million each for Pima High School Road Construction Project in the Town of Pima, Eloy’s Frontier Street Mill and Overlay Project, and Casa Grande Elementary School District #4’s Community Center Revitalization Project.

Earlier this month, the House also passed another package including $11 million for six projects in Tucson, Sahuarita, Marana, Tombstone and Graham County. That bill is also awaiting Senate action.

Local officials expressed their appreciation for Ciscomani’s efforts:

Andy Sutton, Mayor of Eloy said: “On behalf of the City of Eloy, I want to sincerely thank Congressman Ciscomani for his continued support and for helping secure critical funding to repair and improve our roadway infrastructure. His commitment to our community—and his willingness to be available whenever we reach out—means a great deal to me and to the residents we serve. We know this funding did not happen by accident. It took steady effort, strong leadership, and a real commitment to advocating for communities like ours. The congressman has been a true partner to the City of Eloy, and we are grateful for his work and continued support.”

Terry Hinton from Duncan added: “We’re extremely grateful to Congressman Ciscomani for all the hard work he’s done to get us these funds. He’s been a real help for us and rural Arizona. The last paving project we had in the Town of Duncan was 1978. When you’re patching streets with dirt, funding like this will be very helpful.”

Brian Paull from Pima commented: “While the new Pima High School is a wonderful addition to our community, the current access to it is not ideal. A new stoplight and direct access off the highway will be much more safe for those traveling to and from the school and for highway traffic through town. Thank you Congressman Ciscomani for your dedicated efforts to fund this project.”

Dr. Adam Leckie from Casa Grande Elementary School District said: “We are incredibly thankful for the support of Congressman Ciscomani in advocating for this very important project. The community center will help provide critical support and services to our students and their families. We look forward to bettering our community with this funding, and are grateful for Congressman Ciscomani’s vision and commitment to bettering Casa Grande. These funds are going to make a difference in the lives of many kids.”

Jeff Lavender from Casa Grande Union High School District noted: “We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Congressman Juan Ciscomani for his unwavering dedication and relentless advocacy on behalf of our district particularly in securing an impressive $1.7 million grant for teacher housing pending Senate and Presidential approval…His efforts not only support our educators but also signal a brighter future for our schools.”

Kathleen Gomez from Cochise County stated: “With the state-of-the-art Douglas port of entry coming online in the next several years…This appropriation enables us begin this important project in earnest…”

Joe Winfield from Oro Valley said: “This $7 million in federal funding will be instrumental in ensuring our bridges remain safe…While Senate approval is still needed we are grateful…in securing these funds.”

The appropriations act provides discretionary funds totaling over $839 billion across various federal departments including Defense ($839 billion), Homeland Security ($64 billion), Labor/Health/Education ($221 billion), Transportation/Housing ($102 billion). Of note within Homeland Security appropriations is over $32 billion allocated toward FEMA programs supporting disaster response such as wildfires or flooding—issues relevant locally.

The bill also includes H.R 1598 (Ensuring Access To Medicaid Buy In Programs Act) authored by Ciscomani which allows working adults with disabilities over age 65 continued Medicaid coverage while employed.

Juan Ciscomani currently serves as U.S Representative for Arizona’s 6th congressional district, having replaced Ann Kirkpatrick after winning elections against Kirsten Engel both in 2022 (50.7% vs 49%) and 2024 (50% vs 47%).
