Cochise County announced on April 9 that it will hold an online auction of surplus vehicles and heavy equipment from April 13 through April 29, 2026. The auction will be hosted on the Public Surplus website, with the link becoming active at the start of the event.

The auction offers residents, businesses, and equipment operators a chance to purchase county-owned assets that are no longer in use. Available items include fleet vehicles such as Chevrolet Tahoe models (from various years), Chevrolet Silverado and C/K series pickups, Chevrolet Impala sedans, Chevrolet Express vans, utility trucks, crew cab pickups, as well as heavy machinery like Case loaders and skid steers, Caterpillar equipment, tractors, mowers, backhoes, broom units, specialty trucks and trailers.

Interested participants can view detailed descriptions and photos of each item on the Public Surplus site once the auction begins. Registration is required to place bids. The county encourages bidders to carefully review all terms before participating. For questions about specific items or procedures, individuals can contact Cochise County’s property manager at 520-432-8399.

This initiative is part of Cochise County’s approach to responsible asset management by regularly holding auctions for retired fleet vehicles and specialized equipment. Auctions like this one are expected to attract strong interest due to the range of available assets.

Meanwhile in education news from Cochise County: In recent standardized testing results for the 2022-23 school year AASA assessment,70% of students in grades three through eight did not pass the mathematics section while 62.4% failed English; among high schoolers taking the ACT during that same period,76% failed mathematics and 65% did not pass English. More recently,27% of high school students passed mathematics on the ACT for the 2023-24 academic year, while just under a third—28.5%—of students in grades three through eight passed mathematics on their AASA exam.

Auctions such as this provide opportunities for community members while also supporting efficient management practices within local government.
