There were 103 American Indian or Alaskan Native students enrolled in Cochise County schools in the 2024-25 school year, a 24.1% increase over the 83 American Indian or Alaskan Native students in the previous school year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Cochise County welcomed 17,374 students at the time. Among them, American Indian or Alaskan Native students made up 0.6% of the student body making them the second least represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the 57 schools in Cochise County, PPEP TEC – Colin L. Powell Learning Center recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian or Alaskan Native students in the 2024-25 school year, with a total of 11 students, making up 14.9% of the school’s total student body.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
