Cochise County Health & Social Services has launched a new online tool called Here’s Health, aimed at helping residents find healthcare services within the county. The website provides a directory of local hospitals, clinics, and specialty providers, making it easier for individuals and families to access care near their homes.
The resource allows users to search for healthcare options by specialty and location. This includes primary care, preventive services, imaging, behavioral health, emergency services, women’s health, pediatrics, dental care, and more.
“Finding healthcare should not require unnecessary travel or confusion,” said Barbara Lang, Health & Social Services Director. “Here’s Health makes it easier for Cochise County residents to see what care is available in their own communities and connect with the services they need, when they need them.”
Lang was recently honored with the Pete Wertheim Public Health Leadership Award by the Arizona Public Health Association for her leadership in advancing public health throughout Arizona.
The website lists several major healthcare providers in Cochise County: Canyon Vista Medical Center, Copper Queen Community Hospital, Northern Cochise Community Hospital, Benson Hospital, and Chiricahua Community Health Centers Inc.
The project was developed with Initium Health. James Corbett of Initium Health stated: “Here’s Health was built to be practical, clear, and locally grounded. Our role was to support Cochise County in creating a tool that reflects the full range of healthcare services already available in the County and makes it easier for residents to navigate those options.”
Here’s Health is operated by Cochise County Health & Social Services as part of its ongoing efforts to improve access to care for county residents. The site is available starting January 12 at hereshealth.org.
This launch comes at a time when education data from Cochise County show challenges in student achievement. In recent years, most students have struggled on standardized tests; during the 2022-23 school year AASA exam period,70% of students in grades 3 through 8 did not pass mathematics, while 62.4% failed English. Among high schoolers taking the ACT that same year,76% failed mathematics and 65% failed English. More recent figures indicate some improvement: 27% of high schoolers passed ACT math during 2023-24; 28.5% of younger students passed AASA math.
Cochise County Health & Social Services describes its mission as protecting and promoting community well-being through prevention initiatives and partnerships. Initium Health works with public agencies nationwide on strategies to improve access to medical care.
