Cost of education for Cochise County Community College District students stays the same in 2022-23 school year

The latest figures reveal that in-state tuition fees at Cochise County Community College District did not change for the 2022-23 school year, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Arizona residents paid $2,184 to attend the public four-year institution in both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

For the 2022-23 academic year, non-resident tuition was $6,000, representing a 174.7% increase over the resident rate. This amount reflects a 3.8% decrease from the $6,240 charged in 2021-22.

Approximately 89% of the undergraduate student body are Arizona residents, while about 7% come from other states and 4% are international students.

Data indicates that 89% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at Cochise County Community College District in 2022-23 received some form of financial aid. A total of 359 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $2.4 million, and 31 students obtained loans exceeding $268,636.

Across the entire undergraduate population, 1,829 students benefited from grants or scholarships totaling $10.1 million. Additionally, 222 students secured $1.4 million in federal student loans.

Undergraduate education costs have seen a significant increase over the past few decades. Data shows a 169% rise in the average total cost, including tuition, fees, room, and board, between 1980 and 2020.

According to a 2023 College Board report, in-state students at public universities paid an average of $11,260, while out-of-state students paid $29,150 in the 2023-24 academic year.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
