There were 2,155 Hispanic or Latino students enrolled in Gila County schools in the 2023-24 school year, a 0.5% decrease from the 2,165 Hispanic or Latino students in the previous school year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Gila County welcomed 7,286 students at the time. Among them, Hispanic or Latino students made up 29.6% of the student body making them the second most represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the 22 schools in Gila County, Copper Rim Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic or Latino students in the 2023-24 school year, with a total of 309 students, making up 41.4% of the school’s total student body.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.
