Of the many ethnicities represented in Arizona schools, the most prevalent ethnic group among students enrolled in Gila County schools in 2024-25 were white, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Of the 7,186 students attending Gila County schools, 35.6% were white. American Indian or Alaska Native students constituted the second-largest ethnic group in the county, accounting for 30.9% of the student body.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Gila County, representing 36.9% of the student body.

Globe High School had the most even distribution of races among the county schools, which had 38.6% Latino students, 30.3% American Indian or Alaska Native students, and 26.7% white students.

In the 2024-25 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county dropped 1.4% when compared to the previous year.

Arizona’s public schools ranked 49th in the country, according to a WalletHub study, with low marks for class size, performance, funding, safety, and teacher qualifications.
