There were 451 African American students enrolled in Cochise County schools in the 2024-25 school year, a 1.7% decrease from the 459 African American students in the previous school year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Cochise County welcomed 17,374 students at the time. Among them, African American students made up 2.6% of the student body making them the fourth most represented ethnicity in the county.

Among the 57 schools in Cochise County, Buena High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2024-25 school year, with a total of 102 students, making up 6% of the school’s total student body.
