Congressman Juan Ciscomani, who represents Arizona’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on his constituents through a series of posts on October 9, 2025.
In a message directed at Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Arizona’s senators, Ciscomani questioned their perspective on the shutdown’s effects: “Hey @SenSchumer, do you really think things are getting better each day? Maybe for those still getting paid—like both of our AZ senators—but not for the families I’ve been talking to. This isn’t a political game. Real people are being hurt every day during this shutdown.” (October 9, 2025)
Later that day, Ciscomani highlighted his commitment to his district despite federal gridlock: “Great to be back at Marana Mornings! Even with DC’s dysfunction, my focus remains on results for AZ06 by working to reopen the government, protecting jobs, and standing up for hardworking families.” (October 9, 2025)
He also criticized fellow Arizona lawmakers for what he described as partisan behavior: “AZ’s senators want to talk bipartisanship? As the most bipartisan member of AZ’s delegation, I’ve actually done it. Kelly & Gallego keep voting party line to shut the government down—using Arizonans’ paychecks and health care as leverage. That’s partisan politics over people.” (October 9, 2025)
Juan Ciscomani began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Ann Kirkpatrick as representative for Arizona’s 6th district. He secured his seat by defeating Kirsten Engel in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections.
