Congressman Juan Ciscomani, who represents Arizona’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on his official Twitter account addressing both the ongoing government shutdown and mental health awareness.

On October 9, 2025, Ciscomani criticized Senator Gallego for his role in the government shutdown, stating: “At least Senator Gallego is finally being honest and admitting he ‘shut it down.’ But he admits he is willing to KEEP shutting it down. Stop playing politics and vote to open the government back up.”

The following day, October 10, 2025, Ciscomani continued his criticism of Democratic lawmakers Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego. He wrote: “As Mark Kelly, Ruben Gallego, and Senate Dems leave for a long weekend, what have they done? Shut down the government for 10 days Set our troops up to miss a paycheck Put key programs and services at risk Instead of packing bags, they should do their job.”

Also on October 10, Ciscomani marked World Mental Health Day with a call to reduce stigma around mental health issues. He stated: “Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a reminder to check in on ourselves and others. Mental health is just as important as physical health, so let’s continue to break the stigma on it and support those struggling or caring for someone who is, so everyone knows they’re not alone.”

Ciscomani began serving in Congress after replacing Ann Kirkpatrick in 2023. He won consecutive elections against Kirsten Engel in both 2022 and 2024; in the latter contest he secured victory by receiving 50% of the vote compared to Engel’s 47.5%. The congressman’s recent posts highlight his ongoing positions regarding legislative responsibilities during federal shutdowns as well as advocacy for mental health awareness.
