Congressman Juan Ciscomani, who represents Arizona’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, has taken to social media to express his views on the effects of government shutdowns and his recent vote to keep the government open.

On October 1, 2025, Ciscomani stated, “Hear directly from me — shutdowns hurt the American people. But I’ve got your back.”

Later that day, he reiterated his support for various groups affected by a potential shutdown, posting: “For our troops. For our border patrol agents. For our air traffic controllers. For our seniors and veterans. For our families. I voted to keep the government open “ (October 1, 2025).

In a subsequent message early on October 1, Ciscomani highlighted the local impact of a shutdown: “A government shutdown impacts real people, real jobs, and real kitchen tables across the nation – but especially in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District. In AZ06, it harms members of the Armed Forces, CBP Agents, air traffic controllers, seniors, veterans, and so many more.”

Ciscomani began representing Arizona’s 6th district in Congress after succeeding Ann Kirkpatrick in 2023. He won elections against Kirsten Engel in both 2022 and 2024 with narrow margins each time.
