Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey recently allocated $441 million of the federal COVID-19 pandemic stimulus money the state has received to local governments, a decision he made not long after Pinal County officials sought to file a suit over the dispersement of the funds.
According to a May 29 Nogales International article, the state received $1.9 billion in federal pandemic relief. The article states Ducey's plans call for the City of Nogales to receive $2.9 million for Santa Cruz County and $100,341 for the Town of Patagonia.
Ducey also announced that he would allocate $150 million to the Express Pay Program, which would give funding to local governments, tribes, state agencies, nonprofit hospitals, schools, fire districts and nursing facilities who need immediate financial assistance, according to the article.
The governor also said the remainder of the funds would be reserved for future use such as to insure the funding of Arizona's unemployment insurance trust, Nogales International reported.
