Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) is now available for Arizona residents through the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) that no longer have access to unemployment benefits, according to a press release from DES.
“While Arizona is safely reopening, there is still a significant need for assistance during the economic recovery,” DES Director Michael Wisehart said in the DES press release. “This extension of benefits is critical for those still experiencing a disruption in employment during the pandemic, and we will continue to do our best to distribute these funds to eligible claimants as quickly as possible.”
In early June, over $748 million were disbursed in assistance one week, which is the highest disbursed by the DES within a week, according to the press release. DES employees continue to process claims to disburse funding to individuals that need help during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anyone unemployed due to the pandemic is eligible for assistance through PEUC. Funding will stay available until Dec. 26, 2020.
Those looking to apply can do so through the unemployment insurance claims portal, according to the DES press release. More information on DES can be found here.
