CITY OF GLOBE: Notification of Floodway and Floodplain Revision for Agave Wash along Ash Street, City of Globe

Globe

City of Globe issued the following announcement on Sept. 15

The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the community depicts the floodplain, the area which has been determined to be subject to a 1% (100 year) or greater chance of flooding in any given year. The floodway is the portion of the floodplain that includes the channel of the watercourse and the adjacent land area that must be reserved in order to discharge the base flood without cumulatively increasing the water-surface elevation by more than a designated height.

The City of Globe’s Public Works Department, in accordance with the National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of the City’s intent to revise the 1% annual chance (100 year) floodway, generally located between the intersection of Ash St and E South St, upstream approximately 5,600 feet, to a point located approximately at the intersection of Ash St and E Saguaro Dr. As a result of the floodway revision, the floodway shall change from existing FIRM maps all along the previous described area.

These changes may also result in the increase or shift of the FP (floodplain), BFE (base flood elevation) from a point approximately starting at the intersection of Ash St and E South St to a point approximately at the intersection of Ash St and E Saguaro Dr that may be affecting your property within this area.

A Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday September 30, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. at The City of Globe Public Works yard located at 1250 S Hagen Rd., Globe, AZ to discuss this issue and further explain what this map revision may do to your property.

If you wish to participate in this meeting, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, it would be our preference that you use the following to join by phone or video.
