Cochise College issued the following announcement on Oct. 22.
The Cochise College soccer team hosted the Matadors from Arizona Western College. The game between these two rivals always offers an intense battle, and it was no different this time around.
Despite numerous shots on goal by both teams, the game remained scoreless until the second half.
In the 54th minute, Maria Azarias (Santa Catarina, Brazil) picked up a free ball and dribbled past two defenders to open the score for the Apaches. The Arizona Western Matadors started to apply pressure which paid off in the 85th minute, to force the overtime.
Both teams had a couple of chances to end the game, but the Apaches and Matadors had to satisfy with a tie after two overtime periods.
The tie puts the Apaches’ record to 7-5-2 and 3-3-2 in the ACCAC conference.
