University of Arizona recently issued the following announcement.
CAST is proud to partner with Online, Distance and Continuing Education and Veterans Education and Transitions Services to participate in a 5K Run and Walk on Dec. 4 in honor of the 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships for veteran students participating in multicultural education and service-learning opportunities. Students will learn about the Hawaiian culture and visit the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. Funds will also be used to support and improve Online, Distance and Continuing Education’s efforts to serve military connected students and their families.
For those who cannot attend the 5K, there is also a virtual challenge. In recognition of the USS Arizona’s hull number (BB39) participants will complete 39 miles between Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11) and Pearl Harbor Day (Dec. 7).
