Cochise College issued the following announcement on Feb. 3.
The match up between the Gauchos of Glendale Community College and the Cochise College women’s basketball team ended with the Apaches taking a 13 point win over the Gauchos. This was a smaller point difference than the 32 point win the Apaches earned the last time these two teams met on the hardwood.
Both teams showed up with fewer participants than the last time they faced off. Glendale suited up eight players, while Cochise had only seven players in uniform. Despite the lack of numbers, both teams were prepared to compete.
The Apaches struggled in both the second and fourth quarters to score the basketball. The group ended the fourth quarter with only six points. Sophomore Corina Suarez Tudela led in scoring and finished the game with 16 points. Sophomores Tatjana Tatar and Aja Phoumiphat both ended the game with 14 points. The 5’5 point guard, Phoumiphat, also ended the game with an impressive 16 rebounds, securing her another double-double. She continues to lead the Apaches in rebounding for the season.
On Saturday, February 5, the Cochise College women’s basketball team takes on the Bears of Phoenix College in Phoenix at 2 p.m.
