The City Council Meeting/Work Session on Monday, May 23rd, 2022 covered multiple different topics. The meeting began with a presentation detailing staff's revenue projections and a breakdown of how the excess revenue was being utilized in Fiscal Year 2023's budget. Following the budget presentation, minutes from the February 28th and March 14th meetings were approved. Staff brought the topic of employee identification cards for direction with a breakdown of costs for a new ID card machine and the annual cost after the device is purchased. Council was in favor and gave direction to move forward.
In addition, a resolution regarding the City's Education Assistance Policy was brought to Council. The amended policy would require employees to reimburse the City if they utilized the program and left within two years of completion. To continue, two airport runway rehabilitation projects were awarded.
In current events, the golf tournament hosted by the City's golf course, put on by the City of Safford Employee United Way Committee, was brought up and the winners are pictured.
Following the action items, Council was presented with the City's new Public Education on Water Conservation Program.
To conclude the meeting, Council gave direction on the Parks and Recreation Committee moving forward in a work session.
