League announced two Cochise College baseball players were named NJCAA Division I All-Americans for the 2022 season.

Pitcher Marco Ozuna has been named to the NJCAA first-team All-American Division 1, while Trey Meza earned honorable mention All-American pitcher.

Ozuna is the first Cochise baseball player named to the NJCAA first team. He was also selected as the ACCAC first-team All-Region, first-team All ACCAC and conference Pitcher of the Year.

He set a school record for saves with 15, which is also the lead in the nation. Ozuna went 4-0 with an ERA of 1.87 and finished among the national leaders in strikeouts per nine innings (14.36) with 100 strikeouts in 62 innings.

Ozuna, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Casa Grande, will play for NAIA Southeastern University in Florida next season.

Making honorable mention All-American pitcher, Trey Meza from Green Valley was named first-team All ACCAC and first-team All-Region. Meza led the nation in wins with 14, a school record, and finished fifth in the country in strikeouts with 133 crushing the school record by 30 strikeouts. He was 14-3 with an ERA of 2.99.

Meza will be continuing his career at New Mexico State University next year.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Marco and Trey. It is such a huge honor for them,” Head Coach Todd Inglehart said. “They will be missed not only for their abilities but for their leadership.”

Ozuna and Meza are the eighth and ninth All-Americans in the last 15 years. Among these, seven have been pitchers.

“They both came here under-recruited and undersized and are leaving Cochise College as All Americans,” Inglehart added. “Very cool story for them both.”

Congratulations to Marco Ozuna and Treyjen Meza!
