Cochise College women’s soccer team wraps-up Las Vegas road trip with two wins

The 2022 version of Cochise College Women’s Soccer took the field for the first time last week as they defeated both Casper College (Wyoming) and College of Southern Nevada on consecutive days in Las Vegas, NV. On Thursday, August 18th, the Lady Apaches took down the Casper Thunderbirds 2-0 with goals by Paula Roldan (15’) and Megan Castricum (30’). Both goals came in the first half as it was a solid defensive effort the rest of the way with goal keeper Samantha Renteria managing to save 10 shots and Victoria Maxwell with 7 in the second half.

On Friday evening, the Lady Apaches took the field and dominated the Coyotes of CSN in a 6-0 match where four different goal scorers came off of four assists. Kayla Reynaud (5’), Ivana Siles (60’,67’), Dayana Gonzalez (89’), and Castricum (60’;67’) each had a goal in the match, with assists by Dayana Gonzalez (2), Roldan, and Paula Gonzalez.

“The trip overall was a huge success,” stated head coach Ricky Escalera, who earned his first career victory at Cochise College. “I was very pleased with the collective effort of the group. I am excited for the team to continue setting a high standard of play, teamwork, and overall trust with one another.”

The Lady Apaches (2-0) are back on the road August 25th, as they head to Prescott, AZ taking on Western Wyoming College, and Phoenix College on the 27th in a non-conference scheduled contest.
