Free parenting workshops are offered for parents, caregivers, or early childhood educators

In collaboration with Arizona’s Children Association, the Cochise College Center for Lifelong Learning presents FREE Parenting Workshops. Parents and guardians, grandparents, foster and kinship parents, caregivers, or early childhood educators of children ages 3-5 years are invited to attend. Funded by First Things First, participants will receive free children’s books, a toy, and learning resources. 

Parenting Workshops – First Five Years™

Dates: Saturday, Sept. 17 & Saturday, Sept. 24 

Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Location: Cochise College Downtown Center, Room A108, 2600 E. Wilcox Drive, Sierra Vista, Arizona

Join Dominica Aquino and take your parenting skills to another level by learning how to nurture and bond with your child with a “just right” combination of freedom and positive discipline. This two-session workshop meets on consecutive Saturdays and utilizes video-based and discussion-centered approaches. 

Explore the latest topics about 

  • child development
  • brain development
  • and your child’s needs and behavior to inspire cooperation. 
Lessons in this workshop 

  • Build your knowledge and confidence
  • How to keep your cool to avoid tantrums and manage them in the heat of the moment. 
  • Practice mindfulness and self-care to calm yourself and help regulate your child. 
  • Six strategies for school success
Early Childhood S.T.E.P.® Systematic Training for Effective

Parenting

Dates: Tue., Oct. 4 & Thurs., Oct. 27 

Time: 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Cochise College Downtown Center, Room A108, 2600 E. Wilcox Drive, Sierra Vista, Arizona

This eight-session series emphasizes positive parent-child relationships. Lessons in this workshop:

  • How to encourage cooperative behaviors by providing a consistent, nurturing, and safe environment
  • Understanding the relationship between brain development and child development
  • Building courage and self-esteem in your child
  • Enriching family communication through fostering mutual respect and jump starting good decision-making skills. 
  • Strategies for cultivating emotional intelligence and empathy in your child and understanding why it matters. 
  • Benefits of self-care for you and your child
