Twelve cadets from the Southeast Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy (SEALETA) graduated Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Cochise College Douglas Campus.

Dr. J.D. Rottweiler, college president, congratulated all the recruits and thanked the training officers, faculty and staff. In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Rottweiler addressed the recruits and said, “The things you accomplished over the last 20 weeks matter, and we’re here to celebrate with you because of the difference you made. You have chosen an outstanding career. That will be meaningful not only to you, your family, and friends but most importantly to the community you serve.”

Dr. Eric Brooks, executive director of the First Responders Academy, congratulated the Class 22-2 for all their hard work and dedication and added, “I extend my condolences to the family of recruit (officer) Justin Joe for their tragic loss.”

The class motto is “We will when others won’t.” Three officers were recognized for special class awards. Lane Fultz received the physical fitness award. Robert Hertman received the academic award for achieving 96.6% overall. Nelson Norton received the firearms award.
