How many students were enrolled in Graham County Safford Unified District schools in 2022-23 school year?

Safford Unified District had the highest enrollment among Graham County districts, welcoming 2,943 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Latino, representing 54.6% of the Safford Unified District total enrollment.

Among the six districts in Graham County, Thatcher Unified District ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,849 students, while Pima Unified District welcomed 1,097 students and ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Safford Unified District roughly covers schools within Graham County and has a main office in Safford.

In the previous school year, Safford Unified District also had the highest number of students among Graham County districts.

WalletHub claimed Arizona's school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors' credentials.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo.com ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
