How many students were enrolled in Douglas Unified District schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 3,845 students enrolled in Douglas Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.3% less than the 3,894 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.1% of them were boys, and 48.9% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Latino, representing 97.7% of the Douglas Unified District total enrollment.

Douglas Unified District roughly covers schools within Cochise County and has a main office in Douglas.

Among the eight schools in Douglas Unified District, Douglas High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,407 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.
