9.8% of citizens unemployed in Santa Cruz County in 2021

Santa Cruz County recorded an unemployment rate of 9.8% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 2,029 people out of the 47,463 living in Santa Cruz County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Santa Cruz County has increased compared to the 8.3% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Santa Cruz County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.6%.

Of the 18,575 people who had a job during that time, 35 were employed in the Armed Forces and 18,540 belonged to the civilian labor force.
