University of Arizona - College of Applied Science & Technology issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
As we head towards Veterans Day, we look back on the history of Veterans Day and the sacrifices made by our veterans.
The Remembrance Poppy was adopted following World War I as a symbol of veterans and those who died in the Great War. In 1920, it was adopted by the American Legion as their official symbol of remembrance. The poppy symbolized all of the sacrifices that had been made by the Allied forces in World War I, and also as a promise to support the veterans of this and other wars across time.
