Cochise College issued the following announcement on Nov. 29.
Apaches move to 3-0 in ACCAC.
After three straight games away from home, including a hard-fought loss to powerhouse Ranger College, the Cochise College men’s basketball team used a strong first-half defensive effort to overpower the visiting Vaqueros from Central Arizona College in the Cochise Stronghold gym.
Cochise jumped out to a 44-23 halftime lead and never looked back. Once again, the Apaches were led by the 2021 ACCAC Player of the Year Stephen “Tank” Byard, who posted another double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Newcomer Jay Rodgers poured in 21 points in the blowout win for Cochise. Freshmen Tyreese Watson and Oscar Cluff each chipped in 13 points, despite battling early foul trouble.
Cochise moves to 9-1 overall, and 3-0 in ACCAC play with the lopsided victory.
