Cochise College issued the following announcement on Dec. 9.
Apaches move to 6-0 in ACCAC play.
After two straight road win games, the Cochise College men’s basketball team returned to the Cochise Stronghold Gymnasium to take on ACCAC rival the Phoenix College Bears. It turned out to be a tight contest, with the Bears taking an early lead and making the Apaches work for the win. Phoenix College led 45-37 with 10 minutes remaining in the contest. Cochise overcame the Bears in the final four minutes to close out the win.
Cochise was led by guards Jalun Trent and Jay Rodgers with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Big man Oscar Cluff had a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds in his return to action.
Cochise moves to 12-1 overall, and 6-0 in ACCAC play with the lopsided victory. Again, the Apaches are at the top of the ACCAC standings, where they have been for three-plus years.
