The seventh annual 2022 Douglas Days event kicked off with a parade that had a little over 35 entries and 500-1000 parade viewers watching the estimated 45-minute parade along G Ave Saturday morning. Parade entries included the Douglas Days pageant winners, Art Car World, Douglas Little League, Douglas Police, and Douglas Honor Guard just to name a few. At the opening ceremony for the two-day event, Mayor Donald C. Huish said “It is an exciting time to be in Douglas. We are at the precipice of unprecedented growth; And there is so much promise for our town. But as we think about what is to come for our wonderful city, so, too, should we remember our past. We must look to our future but must never forget where Douglas started. We must remember that Douglas is unique in its makeup, and it is our strong family values that define our community.”
The seventh annual two-day event and also the 117 Birthday of Douglas brought the community together in an exceptional way. Jeff Davenport, owner of the radio station KCDQ in Douglas, hosted the celebration. Valentina Moreno honored the flag during the singing of the national anthem.
