In 2021-22 school year, Latino students had the highest representation in Santa Cruz County districts

The majority of students in Santa Cruz County districts were Latino in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Of the 9,935 students attending school districts within Santa Cruz County, 96.5% were Latino. White students were the second largest ethnicity in Santa Cruz County districts (2.6%).

In the previous school year, Latino students still were the most common group in Santa Cruz County districts, representing 90.1% of the student body.

Sonoita Elementary District had the most even distribution of races among county districts, which included 59.3% white students and 31.7% Latino students.

In the 2021-22 school year, the total number of students enrolled in school districts in the county increased 0.8% when compared to the previous year.

The main offices of all districts mentioned in the story are located in cities associated with Santa Cruz County.
