Bowie Unified District welcomed 66 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 66 students enrolled in Bowie Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 11.9% more than the 59 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.5% of them were girls, and 45.5% were boys.

Data also showed that most of the students were Latino, representing 69.7% of the Bowie Unified District total enrollment.

Bowie Unified District roughly covers schools within Cochise County and has a main office in Bowie.

Among the two schools in Bowie Unified District, Bowie Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 42 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.
