Pima Unified District welcomed 1,097 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,097 students enrolled in Pima Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.9% more than the 1,046 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.3% of them were boys, and 46.7% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 69.7% of the Pima Unified District total enrollment.

Pima Unified District roughly covers schools within Graham County and has a main office in Pima.

Among the four schools in Pima Unified District, Pima Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 540 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.
