There were 395 students enrolled in Duncan Unified District schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 395 students enrolled in Duncan Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.1% more than the 383 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.4% of them were girls, and 46.6% were boys.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 74.7% of the Duncan Unified District total enrollment.

Duncan Unified District roughly covers schools within Greenlee County and has a main office in Duncan.

Among the two schools in Duncan Unified District, Duncan Elementary recorded the highest enrollment of 263 students in the 2022-23 school year.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo.com ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
