There were 149 students enrolled in Sonoita Elementary District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 21.1% more than the 123 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.3% of them were boys, and 47.7% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 63.8% of the Sonoita Elementary District total enrollment.

Sonoita Elementary District roughly covers schools within Santa Cruz County and has a main office in Elgin.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.
