Santa Cruz County Education: 9,840 Hispanic students were enrolled in districts in 2022-23 school year

There were 9,840 Hispanic students enrolled in Santa Cruz County districts in the 2022-23 school year, 2.6% more than the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Hispanic students made up 96.3% of the 10,213 students in Santa Cruz County during the 2022-23 school year. They were the most represented ethnicity.

Among the six districts in Santa Cruz County, Nogales Unified District recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 5,648 students.

The main offices of all districts mentioned in this article are located in cities associated with Santa Cruz County.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo.com ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
