Census Bureau: 8.5% of people in Graham County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 38,145 citizens living in Graham County in 2021, 91.5% said they were only one race, while 8.5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Graham County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 73.4% or 27,983 individuals. Following them, American Indian or Alaska Native accounted for 13% and totaled 4,976 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Graham County is 1.9% lower than the state average, which stands at 10.4%.
