Arizona State Sen. Theresa Hatathlie (D) voted against a bill that would require public schools to provide private showers to crossdressing students.
The bill, SB 1182, passed on a straight party-line vote, with all Republicans voting yes and all "no" votes coming from Democrats
Sponsored by Sen. John Kavanagh (R-Fountain Hills), SB 1182 would require a public school to "provide access to a single-occupancy or employee shower room to a person who is unwilling or unable to use a multioccupancy shower room designated for the person's sex and submits satisfactory evidence to the school."
This bill now heads to the House for consideration.
Hatathlie represents Arizona as State Senator of District 6, where she is running for re-election in 2024.
