The Cochise College Baseball team was back at Bo Hall Field on Tuesday afternoon hosting the Glendale Gauchos for another ACCAC doubleheader. The Apaches were coming off of an 0-2 road trip at South Mountain looking to bounce back in the comfort of their own home field, and Glendale was coming off of a split with Phoenix College.

In game 1 of the afternoon doubleheader, the Apaches lost the lead late in a 4-2 defeat. The game went 13 innings and lasted over three hours when Glendale took the lead in the top half of the 13th. The Gauchos struck first their first at-bat of the game, however, the Apaches answered back with a run of their own off of a single by Joel Lindahl in the fourth. A pitcher’s duel kept things tied up 1-1 for 12 innings when Glendale’s Espinoza broke it up in the 13th off of a single. Marco Ozuna started the game for Cochise lasting five and a third innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out eight. Mathias LaCombe, Eddie Villareal, Alex Figueroa, and Samir Rojas each entered the game in relief. Offensively, the Apaches put up eight hits with Lindahl and Gerardo Hernandez each collecting multiple hits.

In game 2 of the doubleheader, Cochise Baseball returned to the win column, defeating Glendale 7-2, giving the Apaches their first conference win. The Apaches were off to a quick start in the first when Mathis Meurant tripled on the first pitch scoring one run. Glendale answered back in the second, however, Cochise came back with one of their own in the bottom half. Cochise pulled away for good in the third inning scoring four runs off of hits from Meurant, Pablo Garcia, and Carlos Vega. Evan Shaw started on the mound for game 2 lasting seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out 13, and walking one. The Apaches collected seven hits led by Meurant, who had multiple hits on the day.

Cochise Baseball (14-9;1-7) is back on the road Saturday, March 11th heading to Gateway College, and back at home Monday, March 13th, and Tuesday, March 14th, hosting Fraser Valley (Canada) and Pima College respectively.
