Town of Superior Mayor's Office issued the following announcement on July 12.
The National Weather Service calls for higher chances of locally high rainfall over our region over the next few days and has issued a flash flood watch for our area from July 13th at 2 pm until July 14th at 11 am. This is Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.
Pinal County Emergency Management has bagged a large number of sandbags, available to our residents free of charge. They are currently at the airport but will be moved in the morning to the parking lot on Heiner and Magma, and to the fire station.
From NWS:
KEY POINTS
• Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon around the burn areas. Increasing moisture
will enhance rainfall rates and some locations of Gila and far eastern Maricopa counties may receive in excess
of 1-2 inches of rainfall though maximum hourly rates will generally be in the 0.5-1.0" per hour range.
• Numerous thunderstorms will be common around burn areas Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. Very
rich moisture will result in very high rainfall rates (1-2" per hour for multiple hours) and slower storm motion
may lead to substantial impacts. Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning may be the most dangerous time
frame for high end impacts.
• There may be slight reduction in thunderstorm chances late in the week, but moisture will remain in the
region and impacts may continue from at least isolated, if not scattered, thunderstorms.
