FOIA Request Sent to Gila County Regarding Voting Machines Testing Report on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Gila County Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Arizona News have sent a request under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq. to Gila County. We are seeking access to the pre-election test reports for the county's voting machines in PDF format.

The specific fields we are interested in include the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed). As a media organization, we believe that access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await Gila County's response and will continue our efforts to ensure transparency in local government affairs.
