Our amazing Parks Maintenance crew just finished installing these new barn quilts along the sixth street fence at the Fry Pioneer Cemetery! The quilts are part of the Hummingbird Stitchers Sierra Vista Barn Quilt Trail and represent the heritage of the diverse people buried in the cemetery. Working closely with the Sierra Vista Historical Society and Henry F. Hauser Museum, the Hummingbird Stitchers Guild created and donated the Kansas Troubles and Texas Star quilts to honor the Fry family; the Mexican Cross and Bonus and the Carpenter's Wheel quilts to honor those of Mexican descent who labored in our early community; and, the Arizona quilt for their shared history and contributions here.
If you visit, the Fry Pioneer Cemetery is located at 112 N. 7th St. and open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
