Cochise County Sheriff's Office Deputies assist CBP’s U.S. Border Patrol and Air and Marine Operations, Bisbee Police Department, and Sierra Vista Police Department with a Failure to Yield Subject.

On Friday December 2, 2022 at approximately 3:00 am, Jonathan Garcia Hernandez, a 19-year-old resident of US Citizen from Chattanooga Tennessee, was arrested on numerous criminal charges including Flight from Pursuing Law Enforcement Officers across three agencies starting outside of Douglas and ending in Sierra Vista.

The vehicle, a 2003 Chevy Tahoe, was driven in a reckless and dangerous manner and culminated with criminal speeds of over 100 miles per hour, even through Sierra Vista. 

At the time of stop Jonathan was found to be transporting six undocumented immigrants. Jonathan was taken into custody with the assistance of CBP’s U.S. Border Patrol and Air and Marine Operations, Cochise County Sheriff's Office, Sierra Vista Police Department, and Bisbee Police Department after the incident covered almost forty three miles of highway and city streets.

Charges:

1. Participation In Human Trafficking

2. Kidnapping 6 Counts 3

. Flight From Pursuing Law Enforcement Officer 3 counts

4. Endangerment 

5. Criminal Speed 

Garcia-Hernandez remains in custody at the Cochise County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

This was an amazing coordinated effort between all agencies in which there were fortunately no injuries.
