FOIA Request to Gila County Elections Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
SE Arizona News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a request for public records under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq. The request was made with the aim of obtaining information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The details requested include each candidate's first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation. Additionally, SE Arizona News has requested contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization, we at SE Arizona News believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to public records such as these is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
