FOIA Request to Greenlee County Elections Office Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Arizona News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Greenlee County Elections Office. The request, sent under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq., is for a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The requested information includes the full names of the candidates (first, middle, and last), the office they are running for, jurisdiction of that office, and their party affiliation. In addition to this, we have also asked for all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
Access to public records is essential for us at SE Arizona News to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from the Greenlee County Elections Office and will continue our mission to provide timely and accurate news coverage about local government affairs.
