City of Sierra Vista Public Affairs issued the following announcement on Aug. 6.
Motorists will see crews begin working in the early morning hours along Fry Boulevard between Garden and Carmichael avenues when KE&G starts curb installation on Monday, Aug. 9, as the Fry Boulevard and Garden Avenue Improvement Project progresses.
The curb crew will begin work at 3 a.m. each day next week to make as much progress as possible while traffic is low. Work will continue into the early afternoon each day. Traffic will be redirected from the outside lane into an inside lane wherever curb installation is taking place. Two-way traffic will be maintained, and drivers are reminded to plan to make a right-hand turn into their destination, as left hand turns across Fry Boulevard are prohibited in the construction zone.
Crews expect to get most of the curb installation completed within about one week but the existing right-in and right-out access will remain in place into September and possibly October. More work on driveways, intersections, and the roadway must be completed before the allowance of left-hand turns can be reassessed.
Residents are reminded to observe all posted traffic control signage, treat flashing red traffic signals just like stop signs, and drive slowly through the construction zone. The City encourages residents to support businesses in the area throughout construction and crews will maintain access to all businesses throughout the project.
