Pinal County Public Health Services District issued the following announcement on Aug. 19.
Mosquito-borne diseases impact the health of Arizonans every year.
The most common mosquito-borne disease in Arizona is West Nile Virus (WNV), spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito.
There have been 16 cases of WNV in Arizona so far this year (2021) and a total of 4 confirmed cases in Pinal County since 2018. Given this year’s monsoon season with more water than in previous years, we do anticipate seeing some human cases of West Nile Virus.
