City Council Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

City of Douglas issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.

City of Douglas Mayor and Council issued a proclamation recognizing September 15 through October 15, 2021 As Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year to not only content the histories, cultures and the countless contributions and achievements of people of Hispanic Heritage. For more than a century, the City of Douglas has embraced diverse culture interwoven with Hispanic culture and traditions. Mayor Donald C. Huish said, "Hispanic culture shapes the Douglas community and influences our way of life." Huish continued, "We need to recognize and Appreciate that our ties to the Hispanic culture make unique here in Douglas.
